5 Marketing Trends for the 2nd Half of 2018

We’ve arrived in the 2nd half of 2018 (already?!) and what a year it has been! And we don’t just mean in terms of world events, the weather, and the unfashionable (unfortunate) return of the fanny pack.

What we are talking about today instead, are 5 major marketing trends for the 2nd half of 2018. And don't worry, if you've missed out on any of these so far this year, you've still got time to catch up!

Mobile is everything: So much more of our personal and professional lives are dependent on smartphones, so it’s no surprise that we have to adjust our marketing efforts to match. Developing mobile sites alongside of desktop versions can help ensure the best SEO possible… Not to mention user experience.

If you don’t have video, you’re behind: Did you know that 85% of the US market watches video online? [1] And the reasons why are clear: people remember video. They connect with it. It provides a level of storytelling that words or photos alone can’t achieve. Luckily, video doesn’t have to be complicated or excessively long, it just has to flow and engage the desired audience. Your organic search will thank you too.(Need a little help with your video projects? Drop Chara an email)

Automation & AI: And some even with enhanced AI capabilities, like machine learning. Until then, with the regularity and consistency required for content success, marketing automation platforms will continue to grow in popularity, And hopefully save us all a little time. And as for AI? We’re already seeing it in the form of chatbots and other customer communicators.

Privacy is key: The GDPR, though a European standard, has had an impact on companies around the world, and is likely to continue having an impact. Why? Because regardless of the origin country, if they do business in European countries they must meet compliance for those countries affected. What that means practically speaking is that US companies could still be fined up to €20 million for violating the regulations. It’s time for personalization: Generic email blasts are OK, but unless the content is truly compelling, there’s a good chance your email will end up in the recycling bin. However, there is a solution to this and other similar woes: personalization. This means delivering the right content, to the right person, at the right time - in a manner that makes it feel custom. This can take the form of AI software or a clickable journey to determine the right product or solution.
